Coastal Marine Ecosystem

The Pandan Bay that straddles in the municipalities of Libertad, Pandan, Sebaste and Culasi has a total contiguous area of 1,950 square kilometers under coordinate. The Baywide Management Council was formed as facilitated by the Antique Integrated Area Development (ANIAD) Foundation and LIPASECU, an acronym representing the first two letters of the four municipalities that formed the council namely LIBERTAD, PANDAN SEBASTE and CULASI was created as per memorandum of agreement dated October 3, 1997.

The memorandum of agreement stipulates the non-establishment of inter-municipal coastal marine boundary and that the entire coastal/marine area is located at coordinates N 11º 21.50' ; E 122º 3.5' from Tibiao - Culasi boundary and coordinates N 11º 45.8' ; E 121º 50.0' at Pucio Point, the boundary between Libertad and Buruanga. In the event municipal boundary be established between the municipality of Sebaste and Pandan, and Libertad and Pandan, they are located at coordinates N 11º 40.4' ; E 122º 5.6' and N11º 45' ; E 121º 59.6', respectively.

  • White Sand Beach
White sand beach in the municipality could be found starting from Bugang River to point pari-pari stretching 2.5 kilometers alluring and fascinating visitors both local and foreign. More and more tourists are discovering the place and as Phaidon Villas and Resort and Vera Mar Retreat House and Tourist Resort are found in this area. The estimated total coastline comprising the beach is about 15 kilometers from Sitio Calabanog, Brgy. Idiacacan to Brgy. Patria.

  • Seagrass Meadows and Reef Flat Corals
Seagrass beds and reef flat corals could be found in Barangays Idiacacan, Botbot, Mag-aba, Tingib, and Patria. Marine sanctuaries are likewise located in the areas and targeted as one among the eco-tourist spot in the municipality.
