Bugang River Tour
Saturday, April 2, 2005 @ 1:08 pm
Bugang River has become a tourism potential and a showcase of the municipality of Pandan. It was featured in national and international magazines and newspapers. With the support and intervention of the Philippines-Canada Local Government Support Program, Bugang River was selected as one of the pilot sites of the Product Development and Marketing for Community Based Eco-Tourism Project in Panay Island.
The Eight Eco-Tours, Eight Destinations in the provinces of Iloilo, Aklan, and Antique, was then organized and presented by Smart Communications Inc. in cooperation with the Philippines-Canada Local Government Support Program. Called the “Ocho-Ocho” Panay Island Tours, the eight municipalities included Concepcion, Ajuy, and San Joaquin of Iloilo; Malay, Nabas, Tangalan and Kalibo of Aklan; and Pandan, of Antique. After seven months of community workshops, seminars, training, and community planning, the BUGANG COMMUNITY BASED ECO-TOURISM ORGANIZATION was finally developed and in place. This organization manages and runs the Bugang River Tour. Pandananons from all over the world come home to see, experience, and taste what the BUGANG RIVER TOUR has to offer.

I’ve been there. It’s absolutely gorgeous. The transition from one activity to another is very smooth and well-organized, and you feel like royalty when you take the Malumpati-Bugang River tour package mainly because of their warm and sincere welcome to all guests.
I recommend this to anyone seeking something different with a little local culture thrown in.
