BUGANG RIVER…

Pandan’s pride and treasure, the jewel of Panay Island, is the picturesque BUGANG RIVER, acclaimed as one of the cleanest among the diverse rivers not only in Panay, but in the whole country. Bugang River is synonymous to the word “magnificent.” Its turquoise, cool water spans about five kilometers from the headwaters of the subterranean river of the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park to the estuary of the Bugang river. The riparian forest and aquatic plants attest to the water’s purity. Colorful rocks and stones of different shapes and sizes can be seen 36 inches underneath. It has river corals, which is unique and seldom found in the other river systems of the country. Traversing along the middle section of the river, the landscape shifts from a riparian forest to mangroves and nipas that serve as a natural filter and breeding ground for different marine species. Endemic and migratory birds gather at the wetlands of the river’s estuary for their feeding ground. The river is also the source of safe drinking water for the municipality of Pandan and the neighboring towns.

Beautiful! That is the Bugang River. With the majestic Mab-o Mountain as backdrop, the crystal clear, serene, and turquoise headwater illuminates purity. Home to old, grown trees, aquatic plants, animals, and fishes, the river attests to its cleanliness. The river’s picturesque view has earned the recognition and admiration of the entire nation.

Hello Alfonso, you could have written your comment under this article, but it’s still ok. Thanks for dropping by, anyway. Arlene Rodillon, with support from other Pandananons, received that 2006 International Green Apple Awards in behalf of Pandan at the House of Commons in London.

Hi ***, So, you have heard about this? There is another one coming sometime May-June but I’m not interested to represent Pandan again.
I would only like to extend my thanks to Frankie Ausan and Candie Dionela together with their families for being there. It was not coordinated properly from Pandan and it was not worth the hassles on my part.
To my cousin Alf, you’re always welcome to come to Pandan anytime. You know where we are. Miss to be with you again. Hope to see you sometime.
