PGMA delivers health and education benefits to Antiquenos
Thursday, May 25, 2006 @ 7:22 pmPANDAN, Antique - President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo gifted the people of Antique with health and education benefits during her visit to this town which marked its annual fiesta today.
The President handed over to the Gov. Leandro Fullon General Hospital an ambulance from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) after she inspected the ongoing rehabilitation and expansion of the hospital.
She also awarded 25 educational vouchers that would entitle an equal number of qualified elementary graduates to enroll in private high school this coming school year.
The rehabilitation of the hospital at a cost of P10 million would double its bed capacity from the existing 25 to 50 beds.
Earlier this year, the President had earmarked some P35 billion for the national government’s pump priming program that includes health, food, housing, education and infrastructure.
The President has said that funds are now available for enhanced social services due to the implementation of revenue generating measures initiated by her administration and passed by Congress.
The President was welcomed by Antique local officials led by Gov. Salvacion Zaldivar Perez and Pandan Mayor Plaridel Sanchez VI.
